The Edmonton Columbian Choirs perform the widest musical diversity from Classical to Contemporary and Broadway – including Jazz and Contem¬porary Canadian works. The Edmonton Columbian Choirs currently produce three concerts annually which include performing at McDougall United Church and the Royal Glenora Club. There may also be the opportunity to travel and participate in weekend retreats. Individual choirs may have other performance opportunities arranged through the conductor throughout the year.

Currently, the choir opportunities offered by the Edmonton Columbian Choirs are: Young Columbian Singers (Boys and Girls Aged 6-11), Vocal Motion (Boys and Girls Aged 11-15) and the Chanteuses Ladies’ Choir (Adult Women 18+).

The boys and girls in the Young Columbian Singers are conducted by Elaine Dunbar.

The boys and girls in the Vocal Motion are conducted by Vern Slipetz. This group was asked to be part of a massed Canadian choir and sing on Parliament Hill on July 1, 2009.

The Chanteuses Ladies’ Choir are conducted by Heather Bedford-Clooney, and have twice been national finalists in the CBC Amateur Choir Competition have sung with the Edmonton Symphony and the Alberta Ballet. In 2001, they were guests of the Canadian Government for Canada Day and joined Vancouver’s Elektra Women’s Choir for its 2002 West Coast Tour.

Fees

The fee structure to belong to our choirs is:

$475/year (No fundraising commitment)
$275/year (Required to work 2 bingos or casinos)
$100/year (Required to work 3 bingos or casinos)

For children in Vocal Motion, those registered in an Edmonton Catholic School pay $150/year with no fundraising commitment.
